VG.J Thunder Claims Galaxy Battles 2018

VG.J Thunder defeated American powerhouse Evil Geniuses, 3-0, in the grand finals of Galaxy Battles on Sunday in the Philippine Arena, Bocaue, Bulacan. They claim the title in front of an estimated crowd of 33,000, showing the strength of the Filipino audience.

The first game of the series saw the Chinese looking for blood as they garnered kills left, right and center in order to finish the match before 30 minutes even passed. Meanwhile, in the second game, Evil Geniuses won a good number of fights that kept them in contention for the title; however, a couple of key clashes in the late game made the Chinese secure 2-0 by the end of the 73-minute brawl.

The third and final game saw the Americans holding a distinct advantage during the early and middle stages of the game; however, Chinese discipline and movements proved to be the key to a 3-0 sweep as VG.J Thunder won a huge teamfight in the 36th-minute mark to seal the series and win the title.

As a result, VG.J Thunder brings home $20,000 (~P10 million), while the American squad gets $85,000. Meanwhile, the Filipino side gets $35,000 for finishing joint 5th-6th place.

Other teams include Team Spirit from the CIS region, OG, PG.Barracx from Indonesia, SkyVille, Infamous, paiN and Philippines' very own TNC have joined the event.

Eri Neeman's creative hosting skills have brought joy and hype to the Filipino fans who attended the tournament, with people even saying that he "single-handedly raised the value of Galaxy Battles."

Galaxy Battles holds its place as the first-ever international LAN held in the Philippines this 2018.
