These past few days have been full of events, so here’s something to help you catch up!
G2 Wins DreamHack Austin
The French “superteam” gets top honors in DreamHack Tours after beating CIS side HellRaisers, 2-0 (16-6 on Cache and 16-14 on Cobblestone), in the grand final.
While G2 needed to beat a resurgent mousesports in three maps, the CIS team made a clean sweep on Atlantic mix Misfits in order to reach their respective places in the final.
G2 takes home $50,000 and defends French pride on their home soil, while HellRaisers gets $20,000 for their efforts.
Starix Returns to Professional Play, Joins Spirit
After serving as a player for Natus Vincere between 2010 and 2015, as well as being a coach for the team from 2015 until his removal a couple of weeks ago, Sergei “Starix” Ischuk is now back in the competitive scene.
Starix joins Spirit, an up-and-coming CS squad in the CIS region. He and his team will join the closed qualifiers for the CIS Minor.
Spirit is better known for its exploits in the world of Dota 2, where they won a couple of regional trophies.
ELEAGUE Announces Rematch Between Astralis and VP
Meanwhile, as part of their return to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, popular tournament brand ELEAGUE will conduct a showmatch between the current #1 team, Astralis and Polish powerhouse Virtus.Pro.
The match aims to recreate the ELEAGUE Major final between Astralis and VP, with $250,000 on the line.
