BREAKING: Filipino Teams Take Part in International CrossFire Tournament
Two of the country's top CrossFire teams, Pacific.Macta and TNC Pro Team FPS, are battling for the right to be called the world's best CrossFire team at the 2017 CrossFire Global Invitational (CFGI) in Shanghai, China.
At the moment, Pacific.Macta are at the top of their group after getting a 3-0 record today (10-8 versus RUDE GAME, 10-5 versus Cherry Stars and 10-6 against FlipSide). Meanwhile, TNC is currently struggling as they are now 1-2 (6-10 against OPERATION KINO, 10-5 against PENTA Sports and 8-10 against BOSS.CFVN). While the former is assured of a high seed in the playoffs regardless of the results of their last match tomorrow, the latter needs to get a certain number of rounds in order to get a ticket to the knockout stage.
Ten of the top CF teams are in attendance, which include PENTA Sports, FlipSide Tactics and Super Valiant, among others. The regions that are represented in the tournament include Brazil, China, Vietnam and Europe.
With five teams in each group, the top four teams of each bracket will go on to the playoffs. In the knockout rounds, a best-of-three single elimination format will be applied.
The winner of the CFGI will bring home a hefty purse of $100,000 (~P5 million), while the second placer will bring home $50,000 (~P2.5 million). The third and fourth placers will get $25,000 (~P1.25 million) each.
Pacific.Macta won fourth place in the previous edition of the Invitational after losing to European side PENTA Sports, 1-2. They are generally known as the country's best CrossFire team for dominating most of the local tournaments that they participate in, as well as getting good placings in the international scene.
Meanwhile, this is TNC's first international CrossFire appearance as a team, though some of its members have participated in international tournaments under different banners.
The matches will continue tomorrow at 12:00 noon (Philippine Standard Time) here on this channel.
