BREAKING: Davao City to Host Six-Figure Gaming Summit

After Negros Oriental and Zamboanga City had their respective spotlights in the local esports calendar, it seems that it is now Davao's time to shine.

Elit Events, a Davao City-based events team, and ROG Net Shop, one of Eastern Mindanao's largest internet cafe chains, have joined forces in order to hold the "2017 Mindanao Esports and Tech Summit", to be held at SM City Davao on August 9-11, 2017.

Multiple esports titles such as Dota 2 and Heroes of the Storm, as well as popular and hardcore games such as Everwing and Rainbow Siege 6, will be featured in the competition later this week. As for gaming enthusiasts, they will be able to take part in different events that are suited towards their respective interests.

The finalists have been determined through different qualifiers that have been conducted throughout the year.

A total of 52 teams across multiple gaming titles have participated in what could be considered as one of Mindanao's largest esports and gaming events. In addition, sources have indicated that the total prize pool "can potentially reach as high as six-digits." The organizers have mentioned that they will announce the final prize pool on Monday, August 7.

Alvin Bandolis Favila, one of the organizers of the tournament, said in a quick statement to WASD Philippines that "the purpose of conducting these tournaments is to help promote the gaming culture in Eastern Mindanao as well as encourage high-level competition among players."

EDIT: Elit Events has issued a statement to WASD that "they're going to announce the prize pool as soon as possible."
